Dr. Rajeev B. Ahuja

Dr Rajeev B Ahuja, envisioned this foundation as he believes service along with self to be a way of life. His illustrious career began as HOD of LNJP Hospital & Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) where he pioneered being India’s first Sex Change Surgeon. Later, adding more professional accolades as one of the youngest Presidents of APSI (Association of Plastic Surgeons of India) & NABI (National Association of Burns India), along with the only Indian (2nd Asian) to become the President of ISBI (International Society for Burn Injuries). His long standing interaction with burn patients at LNJP made him take up the cause Internationally and he is credited with being the Founding President of APBA (Asia Pacific Burn Association) working actively to train younger professionals. A keen Researcher he has published over 70 papers in peer reviewed journals and he is on the Editorial board of several international indexed journals (Burns, Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (British), Burns and Trauma, Indian Journal of Plastic Surgery, Indian Journal of Burns, Chinese Journal of Traumatology, Burn Care and Prevention, Canadian Journal of Plastic Surgery, Annals of Burns & Fire Disasters etc). Social advocacy of Burns is the gap he wishes to bridge in our country, which is the capital of Burns in the world. The strong will and pursuit of empathetic interaction with burn victims, families and communities (medical and non-medical) brings his vision together with Burn Healing Foundation as a socio-cultural aspect of the scope of Burns advocacy. He has been an Expert for bodies like WHO, Bloomberg Philanthropies, CDC (USA), Healing Foundation (UK), ICMR etc. He is also on the Institute body of PGIMER, Chandigarh. Recently, Modern School Old Student’s Association (MSOSA) gave him the Eminent Modernite Award.

Deepak Kapur

Deepak Kapur graduated with Honors in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He presently heads his family business of Printing and Publishing, which was set up in Lahore in the year 1888 – Gowarsons Group of Companies. He was Rotary District Governor in 1993-94. Deepak Kapur took over as Chairman of Rotary International’s India National PolioPlus Committee in 2001, an honorary position which he holds till date. He is the Vice Chairman of Rotary India’s COVID Task Force.

Other positions :

  • Vice Chair of the End Polio Now: Countdown to History Challenge Committee from 2017.
  • Member of the IEAG (India Expert Advisory Group) since 2005 which advises the Govt. of India on its Polio Eradication Strategy and also member of the IEAG on Measles-Rubella Elimination.

Most significant honors or achievements in civic and public service activities :

Recognized in 2014 as one of the 100 Leading Global Thinkers in the World (alongside Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Amit Shah from India) by the prestigious Foreign Policy magazine published from the U.S.

  • Participated in and Addressed the Global Vaccine Summit in Abu Dhabi in 2013 at the invitation of Mr. Bill Gates.
  • Recognised by the Government of Delhi for contribution to the Pulse Polio “Abhiyan”.
  • Awarded “International Service Award for a Polio-free World” by Rotary International .

In 2012, he was invited by the Center for Global Affairs, New York University at the United Nations to speak about Rotary’s Efforts to Eradicate Polio throughout the world. In 2020, he was invited by the famous Knight School of Journalism in Texas, USA (with Journalists from across the world being its students) to be a guest Lecturer for its Public Health segment.

Mr. Madhav Lal

Mr Madhav Lal is a former IAS officer with vast experience of public policy and administration in India and abroad. In a civil service career spanning thirty-eight years, Mr Lal held various senior assignments with the Government of India, the State Government of Jammu & Kashmir and with the United Nations. He has served as Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir state (2011-13) and as Secretary to the Government of India (2013-15). After his superannuation from the IAS in 2015, he has been variously associated with the Indian School of Business (Executive Director, Bharti Institute of Public Policy), Indian Institute of Science (Member, Society for Innovation and Development) and National Institute of Design, Haryana (Chairperson, Governing Council).

A gold medallist and UGC National Scholar in Delhi University, Mr Lal studied at St. Stephen’s College for his Bachelor (Honours) and Master’s degrees in Physics. He is also an alumnus of Harvard University (Kennedy School of Government), where he was awarded a Master’s degree in Public Administration.

Mr Madhav Lal is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration (2010-11) and the Jammu and Kashmir State Award for Meritorious Public Service (2012).

Mr. Sudhir Dewan

Mr. Sudhir Dewan, Director (Pharma Division) Medwonders, is also a Director for the Mohan Foundation with which he is associated since 2010. Mohan Foundation is looking after Solid Organ Donation activities in the tricity of Chandigarh, Panchkula & Mohali, extending to other cities of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and J&K.

He is an M.B.A. with over 45 yrs experience in Pharmaceutical Marketing in Multinational Organizations with last designation as C.E.O. Underwent Live Donor Liver Transplant in 2009. Having experienced the lack of awareness regarding Organ Donation and the frantic and traumatic search for the organ, he decided, while in ICU itself, to devote the rest of his years to the cause of Organ Donation. With his initiation of Organ Donation Awareness activities in northern states, today Chandigarh is on the national map for Organ Donations.

Dr. Salil Gupta

Dr. Salil Gupta, MD, is a dedicated member of the Board of Directors at the Winter Garden Rotary Club in Florida, USA. With a sincere commitment to humanitarian service, Dr. Gupta passionately applies evidence-based practices across various organizations to enhance health outcomes. His expertise and dedication to improving community health make him a vital asset to the Rotary Club and the broader healthcare community. Dr. Gupta’s work is characterised by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a deep-seated belief in the power of informed, compassionate care.

Ashish Guliani is a seasoned media professional, having worked with top media houses for engagement with communities through successful campaigns. As a person he has an entrepreneurial flair that lead him to establish a marketing agency and a production house. His humanitarian spirit has been a driving force in creating campaigns with a heart and his network of media professionals makes him a people’s person. The same drive he extends to BHF, supporting our vision and making it reach to the people.

Dr. Rajeev B. Ahuja

Aarti Ahuja is an independent practising psychologist based in New Delhi with over 8 years of experience in stress & anxiety management, relationship counseling, pain management along with grief and loss counseling across a diverse gender neutral client base across age groups.

Her role at BHF is in multiple capacities as she takes the sense of service forward to make healing an integral part of post burn psycho social rehabilitation.

Dr. Raman Sharma

Project Manager - Medical

Dr Raman Sharma is a young Plastic Surgeon, having trained at premier medical institutes like MAMC and PGI Chandigarh. He is practicing at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital today. His interest in humanitarian activities and surgical interest in Burns bring him to BHF.
