7-year-old boy lived with deep burn scars pinning his left thumb tight to his hand, destroying normal grasp and pinch functions.
Before surgery
Rigid thumb adduction contracture. Burn scars that tighten across the fingers and palm make it hard to grip, write or work.
The surgery
The surgery was done at Amandeep Hospital in Amritsar, a BHF partner hospital. BHF funded it in full, at no cost to the family.
After surgery
Complete thumb abduction and grasp restored.
