The survivor’s journey, before and after surgery.
10-year-old girl lived with burn contractures locking her left elbow in rigid flexion, unable to straighten her arm.
Before surgery
Rigid left elbow flexion contracture. Scar bands across the elbow or armpit stop the arm from straightening or lifting fully.
The surgery
The surgery was done at Shija Hospitals in Imphal, a BHF partner hospital. BHF funded it in full, at no cost to the family.
After surgery
Full arm extension and normal function.
